depression help: Dear Internet, - Help.com

This post left anonymously

Dear Internet,

I moved away from home to New York City in order to get a change of perspective in my life. A college dropout, I moved in with a friend in lower Manhattan. For the past six months I’ve been working at an embarrassing fast food chain restaurant with people that are neither of my age or personality. I’m learning quickly that a change of scenery was not the only thing I needed to escape monotony and depression. I’ve been seeking out new and different things to do like writing or martial arts classes, but I’ve lacked the motivation to stick with or even start half of the things I want to do. I need help, in one way or another to get myself on my feet, both physically and mentally. Any feedback is appreciated.

Maybe you should travel some more if you can. Maybe you should have a travel related job.

I don’t think moving would help. It doesn’t really matter where you go in this world your mind is your mind. I think what you need to do is really think of what you want to do. Try meditating. I know it seems strange at first, but it really does help( at least for me) or you could try writing. Wants you figure out what you want to do. Do it? There’s this quote by Walt Disney that I think is amazing it goes something like this

-When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.-

Just giving you my 2 cents.. Good luck on your adventure people call life :)
