im 14 years old and today i used a sunbed for the first time, i was in it for just under an hour.

i have just found out that i could have a very high risk of getting skin cancer.
Can you still get skin cancer after one time using it and when could i start noticing any of the symptons?

And if i was to go to my doctors would i get in trouble for being underage?

Yes, yes, and yes.

We will be sending you a sign. You need to wear this sign 24/7 even in the shower.

It won’t help you. Its just that others that come near you need to be forewarned.

an hour????

arent you only supposed to use them for 10 mins or less at a time?

i doubt you’d get skin cancer after one use. just keep an eye on any moles you have and see a doc if you notice a change in shape, growth or colour

From Dr. Oz,
“UV Radiation

UV radiation comes from the sun and from tanning beds. UV radiation damages our skin and adversely affects our immune system. As previously mentioned, one blistering sunburn increases your risk of developing melanoma, which is a very dangerous and lethal skin cancer. You are also 2.5 times more likely to develop basal cell carcinoma and 1.5 times more likely to develop squamous cell carcinoma.

The FDA and the CDC both suggest that you avoid using tanning beds in order to prevent developing skin cancer. There really is no such thing as a safe tan from a tanning bed. In addition to the risk of developing skin cancer, exposure to UV rays causes your skin to age prematurely.

It’s time we rethink our position on the standards of beauty. Tan really is not beautiful; it is a walking advertisement for skin cancer.”

You probably shouldn’t be using a sunbed at your age.
