How can I be less innocent and naive?

I think I’m too innocent and naive about people, I’m 20. It always seems like people are deceiving and manipulating me, and it hurts because I don’t expect it or understand why they have to be like that. I just can’t comprehend that some people can be that way, it’s hard trying accept that others can be devious and hurt the those who’ve done nothing wrong. Some people I’ve always been honest and nice to have treated me badly for no reason and I don’t understand why. How can I learn to accept and recognize this?

Just keep in mind that every person is fallible. There are some people who are nice but, for one reason or another, they at times act with cruelty.
If you don’t give a person your trust until they’ve earned it, it helps. And if you can talk to people when they hurt you it helps too. And if a person doesn’t care when they hear that they’ve hurt you, well, then you have an easy indication that this person is not worth trusting ^^

However, if you get betrayed enough you eventually stop trusting people. Which isn’t really a good thing. So it’s best to merely learn which people are trustworthy instead of not trusting anyone or trusting everyone (both of those aren’t a good idea).

Nah, it’s not weird to do things alone and be independent. It’s often far better for people to have friends you can trust that are close to you, but it’s entirely possible to do most things alone ^^
I do both, depending on what mood I’m in. Sometimes I’m social, sometimes I spend time alone.
