Can some one explain university to me?

Specifics included.

I wish to become an oncologist. I need a bachelor in some sort of math or science, four years of med school, and a residency for oncology. What grades in highschool do I need to get into mcgill university, what is course selection like, what is residency and why do I torture myself with this schooling?

If you want to get in to that specific one you’d prolly be better off calling and asking them. They’ll send you a packet most likely which you can then read up on and such. However because it’s medical, you’re very likely going to need a 3.8 to 4.0 in high school if it’s a respectable school (I’ve no idea, I’ve never heard of em).

It’s in Montreal, Quebec…its a nice school!

You’ll need at the very least an 80% average in your last semester of grade 11-first semester grade 12. Those are the only semesters they really look at, so those count the most.

Each program has a specific % minimum, so ask your guidance councilor, dude. Thats what they pay them for.

Oncology sounds like a good field to get into. I’m not aware of that particular university and am not studying medicine, but I do suspect you’d need good grades and a fair amount of commitment and passion.

Love for your subject makes the length of study more bearable. Unlike almost everyone I know, I dearly love study and university and think my course should be years longer (but that’s probably just because I’m insane). If you’re determined to be an oncologist, do everything you can to make it your profession. Find your passion.

This is good advice. Arrange to visit them even, if you haven’t already. When I went to my university’s open day, I felt at home there and knew it needed to be the place I went to. Look around and follow your heart.
