The question presupposes a lot of truths:
1)That rights exist
2)That if rights exist, then all living things have them
3)That if rights are violated, then morality has been violated
4)That morality exists
Those presuppositions absolutely must be clarified and verified before any meaningful discussion that doesn’t quickly degreade into troll-encouraged flame wars can occur.
So, let’s start here: If rights exist, where do they come from?
thats kinda hard to answer. I personally dont really see the two being all that related, even though it sort of sounds related.
But if you’re leaning towards an environmental issue, then id say that yes humans have the right to do so. Oil improves our quality in life by providing us with energy. Its just not a sustainable practice, something which is being addressed already hopefully
Well I can’t see the animals revolting and protesting…..
I love this response…I wish I had time to go into it with you, but have some things to do this morning…Maybe latter…

Every species, including human, has an instinct to preserve and improve its quality of life. The real question is long-term quality of life. There are benefits to immediate energy production and employment of individuals, and there are benefits to environmental preservation. There is a cost when life is disregarded or disrespected. There is a cost when immediate benefits are ignored entirely for the long-term good. The proper balance must always be sought.
Glad you liked my initial analysis. I look forward to our future conversation about it.
Cheers.
Yes, humans have the right to destroy animal habitats because God gave dominion over the earth to man. So man runs the show, and decides what will be what. Now man may make a bad decision, unfortunately, but man has the right for it is his dominion.
It’s the law of nature; survival of the fittest
Yea, survival of fittest my rear.. Humans are grossly overweight, And its up for debate wether destroying the environment to support a lazy human population is intelligent.

Do humans have the right to destroy other species habitats, as in drilling for oil?
