Does David Letterman think we watch his show to learn about the Republican party?
His show is not very entertaining anymore. He is just become a mean person.

Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
He is an entertainer. That’s what CBS pays him to be. He is no less an entertainer than Stephen Colbert, Jay Leno, or Jimmy Fallon. They all are entitled to share a political opinion if they want and usually do. If you find the jokes offensive I’d say you that the joke was aimed exactly at you in the first place.
And the rest of us (including the advertisers) find that hilarious.
People watch the Letterman show?

I don’t know about that; putting on the label “entertainer” doesn’t excuse a person from the responsibility of his behavior. I don’t watch Letterman (or any late night shows) but if in fact he is mean, being an entertainer doesn’t excuse that behavior.
Letterman doesn’t write the jokes in the monologue. They usually pick out popular topics to poke fun at. He never talks much about it during interviews unless he is interviewing a politician.

Mr Letterman is not RESPONSIBLE to make sure you are not offended by his “act”. At no time has he stopped the show and said, “This is serious. I want to educate you and the public on the platform of the Republican party.” That is not his job. He knows that.
Now you do too.

OP. I’m curious. What is it he said that made you so upset?

Very one, including Letterman, is responsible for at least attempting not to offend others; that’s what it means to be a mature adult. It is immature, short sighted and egotistical to believe you are the only person who matters in the world and the rest of the people be damned if they don’t like what you have to say or want to do.
This is not to say you should always bight your lip when you have something to say that might be offensive to people; but it does mean you ought to think before you talk or act and consider how your words or actions might be perceived by others.
This is very one’s job and it’s personal responsibly.

Tell you what. I will write a personal letter to Mr. Letterman asking him to curb his outrageous attack of Mitt Romney and the Republican Party.
In return you must right a letter asking that the same personal responsibility be given to President Obama by the following people:
Fox News
Fox & Friends
Tea Party Patriots
The Tea Party
FreedomWorks
The Heritage Foundation
Bill O’Reilly
Sean Hannity
Neil Cavuto
Greta van Susteren
Megyn Kelly
Geraldo Rivera
Karl Rove
Shepard Smith
Laura Ingraham
Ann Coulter
Hank Williams Jr
Family Research Council
National Organization for Marriage
Koch Industries, Inc
Mitt Romney
Newt Gingrich
Ron Paul
Rick Perry
Jon Huntsman
Donald Trump
Glenn Beck
Rush Limbaugh
George W. Bush
**** Cheney
Ted Nugent
Nikki Haley
Haley Barbour
John Kasich
Scott Walker
Bill Haslam
Robert Bentley
Rick Snyder
Rick Scott
Mitch Daniels
C.L. “Butch” Otter
Joe Wilson
Chuck Grassley

Lamar Alexander
Bob Corker
Virginia Foxx
Allen West
Marco Rubio
Paul Ryan
Jon Kyl
Orrin Hatch

Any questions?
I see I thought we were talking about human decency and an entertainers responsibility, or lack there off, to not be rude for rudeness sake. I wasn’t aware we were really taking about the poltical vitriol that so many people are engaged in these days. By all means continue it … cause that’s entertaining. It’s like the gladiator fights of old; no real consequence or mobility just circular fighting till all are dead. So I take it from your post that you are hevy on the Obama side? Should prove an intresting next couple months as he pulls out all the stops to win another 4 years of ineffectual Politicing … May the more angry sounding side win.
Oh and just a point of clarification personal responsibility isn’t give to people; it is simple acted with by people. However to bring things full circle if our elect leaders like President Oboma and perhaps soon to be president Romney where to lead by example more people would follow.
