computer help: Drugs aren’t the only thing you can be addicted too. - Help.com

Drugs aren’t the only thing you can be addicted too.

I need some advice/support, my computer has broken leaving my only internet access to my iPod. This wouldn’t be such a bad thing accept I can’t play World Of Warcraft, it’s been about 6 hours since I last played and I’m having extreme withdrawl symptoms. Iv never taken any drugs like heroin but I can only imagine that the withdrawl symptoms are similar. Of course for drugs there is a lot of advice and support in place however for my situation I seem to be alone.

I personally think that game is evil.
Its some kind of mind control but I don’t know for what purpose.
I would end it and walk away.

Ok getting off this game is a good thing, cold turkey isnt exactly the way you should get of anything but its the way thats been presented to you.

the only way to get rid of an addiction is to replace it, so find something else that you can get addicted to, i dont know like looking at funny cat pictures on the internet through your ipod

I use to play a lot of Warcraft to keep my mind off stuff. I noticed it was effecting my housework so I quit. I don’t want to be the mother on WOW yelling at her kids to make themselves something to eat. My husband is playing right now and he says he’s going to quit when the baby comes (I’m pregnant) I hope he’s telling me the truth because that game takes up to much time. He’s a guild master of a guild that was one of the first on Perenolde. So I’m hoping he will be able to give that up. I just quit. I told him to stop paying for my account and I haven’t played since. He still pays for my account because I think he uses my character from time to time, but I think the game just takes up too much time.

Anything has the psychological potential to make you addicted. Gambling, gaming, shopping, drug addiction, its the same psychological process in the brain going on. When you say you’re having withdrawal symptoms I assure you it’s nothing remotely close to those who are actually chemical dependent.
