Health question.

So, I’m currently trying to lose about 20 lbs. I’m 21, weigh 175, and I’m a dude. I’m doing cardio, but I’m poor, do I can’t shop for health foods. I’ve been reading up on this stuff, and I’m confused. Is calories all that matter? If I’m trying to lose weight, and I’m doing cardio and watching my calories, will I still lose weight, even though the food isn’t the healthiest?

To go more into food detail, I can’t afford food. So I’m getting the bread stuff that starbucks, Einstein bagels, and panera throws out each night.

you need vegetables and fruit, all that bread is not good for you. anyway can you afford some fruit and veggies they aren’t as expensive as you may think? are soup kitchens around near where you live? they give pretty balanced meals

well its definitely good that you are working out, but unless you balance it with eating right its hard to say how much weight you will loose. you will most likely be very toned but not completely healthy. pretty sure starch (breads) turn to sugar when in your body which isn’t 100% healthy for you, while you may loose weight you wont be healhty unless you are balanced eating/exercising wise. lets say your definitely off to a good start, and you have the motivation, so i’m sure you’ll find a way to start eating right. also it takes time to loose weight so don’t get discouraged if you don’t loose it right away. Keep at it!

some tips, can you plant your own vegetables?
i think bananas are really cheap but dont eat too many otherwise youll overload on potassium.
also some stores get rid of vegetables that look gross or are going bad but not bad yet, maybe some stores would give them to you for free?
