Do you think people are mentally weaker these days than in the past or has the human race always been so weak?

I think they are weaker, but I’m not sure. That’s just what old people always say, plus loads of young people are completely useless and entitled. I know a couple really tough young people though :)

Yeah I know some strong people. I think people keep using mental illness as an excuse to not do stuff in the US. Like get a job and our government allows this. I guess back in the day if you didn’t harvest or hunt for your own food you were dead. These days it’s not like that, but I don’t know. Maybe a lot of it has to do with the steroids we pump into our food these day or any other technological advances that could be harming people brains. I don’t know, I’m just starting to lose faith in people and wish they would quit being so down and do something about it instead of saying they are going to kill themselves.
Yeah I agree with you, but I think character develops mostly through struggle, and people just don’t have to struggle to survive anymore. This is a blessing and a curse I guess.

I hate for people to see my weaknesses. Like me getting mad about someone being depressed. I feel bad for them. I have some family members and friends that worry me with their depression. But I don’t have to be anonymous. :)
I understand, I just like to know who I agree with :)

They act as though they are struggling harder than people in the past.
I go through bad stuff and somehow I find a blessing in it. I just think I need to get around some people who are more positive because I’m getting these negative feelings towards others’ actions and it sucks when they just will not see the positive in things that happen to them. Or they don’t like how life is going, but don’t try to fix it in anyway because they have so many excuses.
I think the biggest issue is that society convinces people that they aren’t to be held responsible for their own thoughts and feelings, sometimes even their actions (scary right?). I wonder if telling people that they are responsible would be helpful to them. Usually people just get angry when you tell them stuff like that.
When people know that they are accountable for the way they feel and the way they live, they eventually hit bottom, and know that they must change to help themselves, so they do change.
When people are raised to believe that what they feel is a disorder and there is nothing they can do to help themselves, only other people can help them out or cater to them, they never hit bottom, they never realize that changing their own actions can get them out of the way they feel, so they just get worse and more disheartened.
I really hope that this belief can be unlearned for the sake of those people.
That sounds about right. I found comfort in the things you said. I hope they do get the help they need. I guess I shouldn’t worry about things I can’t and just have faith they change.
