The company I work for has net staffed me.

Basically, changing my regular schedule to an hour later. (Start and end time.) This was done without my knowledge and without warning. The upper management sent out emails to each supervisor for each team to have them discuss if anyone was WILLING to change their schedules. My supervisor, however, did not receive the email so he was unable to discuss it with anyone on his team. I work for an inbound call center that outsources Verizon Fios. Before this happened, I tried getting my shift changed, that, unfortunately was denied. I’m a single mother of 2 (expecting 3rd soon) kids. And when I logged into my computer one day to check what time my breaks and such were scheduled for, I noticed that the start and end time of my shift was different. We even tried getting it changed back to what it was and that got denied. Is this at all legal for them to do?

I think every company I’ve ever worked for has randomly changed my schedule like that. Many of them very hurtingly… that’s often the worst part of jobs, in my experience. trying to deal with no sleep because of ever shifting schedules… but: There are state laws governing what employers can do, it is not just a contractual relationship between the two of you, especially if there are more than a certain number of employees, there are various state laws that apply. You might be able to find out about it by googling ‘[your state] employment law’

It’s awful. I don’t sleep much as it is, so I know that all too well. But, I’ll try looking more into it that way.

What I would do is talk to the person who changed the schedule, saying how I felt (about the schedule, not about their actions) and what I wanted. “This schedule change is a slight problem for me because of this reason, and is there a way it could change back?”
I don’t know if I’d do that specifically about the schedule, but it’s pretty common to bring up things like that with co-workers/superiors.

My supervisor has talked to the upper management, and she understands why this is such a problem, and she’s tried getting it taken care of through someone higher up than she is, and it still got denied
It seems as though this company, doesn’t care about inconvenience in the least

There are people with medical reasons as to why they can’t work certain hours.
their solution? They’re told to take personal leave. It’s horrible.

This process has been happening for years with these companies and sadly they don’t really care, but there are somethings you can try.

First understand that you may need to keep your eyes open to other jobs.

Understanding that more changes will come, you may be able to request a completely different shift bid. One that will work for you and one the others are not interested in.
They have all the rights and the next step they will take be cutting back hours:(

Good luck…may find another call center or talk to people who have left and found other jobs.

Two more ideas that have worked.
Child care for those that have the late shifts and cleaning services for professional people.
