If there is a habit in your life that causes you difficulty

or an addiction or a behavior you dislike in yourself, ask yourself these questions to break into your putting-off-change attitudes.

Is there an area of my life that I’m unhappy about?

What is someone who knows me well and cares about my well-being advising me to do?

What reasons might I have for wanting to change this behavior?

What excuses have I been telling myself to keep myself from moving forward?

How do I distract myself away from taking positive action?

What fears underlie making this change?

What beliefs do I have that create huge obstacles in my mind?

What positive outcomes can I see if I make this adaptation?

What is the first step that I could take?

What is in it for me to start this change process?

This choice exercise is from Your Quick Anger Makeover by Lynne Namka

Do you know if you really need to change your weight? Since the people in your life say you look good as you are, maybe you do. Here is a good place to see if you are in a healthy weight range for you age and height. http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/calo…

And in you do need to change your weight to be healthy, I would say that one of your obstacles is that you think you need to go to a gym. You can exercise at home!

ive used those graph things before and im on the overweight/average line. i guess i could stay as i am, i do feel like i need to lose a stone or so. but people say i look good coz i hide it well, and im curvy. im not good at excersizing at home, i do actually like going when i have the energy, but i rarely have the energy due to lack of food in the house (see other posts about that!) plus i want to join the army so i do need to be fit

Looks like having food needs to be first on your priority list.

You are 24, working and living with your mother, I think you need to buy your own food and not depend on what she is bringing into the house to eat. Do you have food pantrys where you are? Where they will give food to those in need?
