If there is a habit in your life that causes you difficulty
or an addiction or a behavior you dislike in yourself, ask yourself these questions to break into your putting-off-change attitudes.
Is there an area of my life that I’m unhappy about?
What is someone who knows me well and cares about my well-being advising me to do?
What reasons might I have for wanting to change this behavior?
What excuses have I been telling myself to keep myself from moving forward?
How do I distract myself away from taking positive action?
What fears underlie making this change?
What beliefs do I have that create huge obstacles in my mind?
What positive outcomes can I see if I make this adaptation?
What is the first step that I could take?
What is in it for me to start this change process?
This choice exercise is from Your Quick Anger Makeover by Lynne Namka
