Trust.

I have a problem with trusting people. today a friend said to me ‘dont worry you can always trust me, i dont tell anyone.’ ….when a person says that, does it not mean that they cant be trusted? and they say that to try and gain your trust. (?)
i know i called her my friend, but im really not sure about anyone anymore.

You should decide based on their actions whether or not to trust them. Have they ever betrayed another?

…well, with secrets i dont think so. but she did, apparently cheet with her bestfriends bf. …everytime i think about that it puts me off her, i used to feel really close to her… but even that i dont know for sure if thats true, because i never heard her side of the story or anyone elses… just one persons.
i think maybe in the past she may’ve tried to push me away from my bestfriend, whom i was in conflict with at the time, i dont if that was just her trying to be a good friend and protect me or she was trying to seperate us like everyone else always did.

there must be an incident that makes you have trust issues. i myself have that problem, used to trust people bcoz i assume that people will always tell the truth (i hv aspergers and generally, aspies tends to be honest, even brutally honest sometimes).

after a few incidents, i found it hard to trust anybody including family members. the only person that i can so far trust is my sister and that’s it.

Trust has to be earned, and words are cheap.

It’s really kind of easy to know if you can trust people or they’re your friends. Their actions over time reflect the way they view you and others. I normally give people a little bit of my trust, see what they do with it, and then decide if they can be trusted more.

So, just spend time with people and trust your instincts about them.

i do have reasons for having trust issues. my ex whom i literally trusted with my life sexually assaulted me. my ex bestfriend was a backstabber, after being there for her through thick and thin for almost my whole life, she changed, became jealous, became bad for me, messed around with my feelings. A very close family friend raped his own daughter, shocking me, shocking everyone. and just in general i’ve learnt people and arent always as good as they look, or as truthful as they may seem. thanks for the advice everyone.

Yeah. I’ve become pessimistic towards my opinion of others over the years. I normally only trust people who are genuinely kind and caring, not those who pretend to be so. I’m also a fan of the Russian saying, “Trust, but verify.”
I trust people, but I always keep in mind what I would do if they’re lying. No matter the outcome, I find it best to be prepared.
