school help: Greetings, - Help.com

Greetings,

I am 20 years old and I am going to be a college Senior this upcoming year. However, I experienced a rather unfortunate second semester of my Junior year and I was hoping to seek advice on how to further pursue suing my school for an unfair and discriminatory/gender bias disciplinary action. ‘Long story short, I have two drinking tickets on my record. After my first one, my college put me on social probation. I was stripped of my leadership roles as President of the Communication Club and the Greek Council Men’s recruitment chair. In addition to that, I not only had to pay 500 in the sum of two drinking tickets, but my school also made me pay them an additional fine of $250 (total $750) I was also FORCED to make my boss have a meeting with our Dean of students. She is the woman that has enforced all of these ridiculous stipulations on me. I also had to pay to meet with a Professional Counselor who said to me that it appears to be that I was mandated to be there, I have no problem with alcoholism and that this woman sounds like an “awful person to do this to a student who has done so much for the school.” These are all things that I dealt with that I had to previously accept as fair punishment because I had no control over the situation.

However, I have recently come to learn that there is another person at my school who is in the same grade as me and 20 as well. During the time I received my drinking ticket,s she also was experiencing the same thing. However, she received 4 drinking tickets .. I repeat 4 DRINKING TICKETS as opposed to my two. Furthermore, I spoke with her in person recently as summer break has began and she told me when she got her fourth drinking tickets she was treated as if it were her first and has received no punishment In fact, she is still on the Volleyball team, although the things that I was an organizational leader for and managed were taking away from me.

I now feel the best way for me to go about the situation is to be proactive and further pursue legal action. In fact, I honestly am not concerned about the money, I only want to see the person put in this position to be removed. I go to a small liberal arts college with about 800 students so everybody on campus knows each other pretty well. I can honestly say that I have only heard negative things about this woman from students, if her name is brought up anywhere it is constantly bashed and stories of harassment are told . Is it just me, or should you dean of students actually be somebody that your students like? that they can talk to? or go to if there is a problem? I am not saying I did not deserve some disciplinary action for what I am responsible for, but this is just embarrassing and unprofessional to see our dean of students behave with such a bias and cruel tactic.

Any further comments, questions, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
