What’s the fastest/best way to get rid of a sunburn?

..

Seriously, i am sunburnt on my arms, knees and face, it sucks. My sister told me that if I take a hot shower, the sting of the sunburn would go away. Which I followed her advice and did it. It hurt and also came to no avail. I decided to take two baths instead (a couple hours apart of course) and it does feel a little better, but not alot. Then my sister gave me aloe to cool the burn and well that does feel good for about a couple minutes, but then the coolness goes away and it leaves my skin looking oily. Can anyone help me please? i really want this to go away…I have to go to work like this tomorrow :/..

Coolness, aloe vera, and vitamin e lotion are all that I remember to really help. But I can explain “coolness” a little more. When I worked at a very crazy restaurant, we’d often get burns — and instantly, without thinking, we’d put our hands under running cold water for a couple of minutes, and the result was that there was no noticeable lasting damage. This is pretty amazing considering how hot some of those burns are, and I don’t know why it helps or how it works, but it did. And then, it turns out that sun burns really are burns in the same way and that drawing the heat out is helpful. Cold water compresses, like soaking a washcloth in cold water and then holding it to the affected area. Not running water so much because that can be an additional irritant and maybe even wash away important oils/cells/something. Then vitamin e in high concentrations helps skin that is actually repairing itself, and aloe vera is the only thing that seems to make sunburns feel comfortable.

The other thing I remember for it to heal is that you have to stay out of direct sunlight.

They sell aloe vera gel with painkillers in it, and that worked the one time I tried it.

Crush about 20 aspirins into powder and it into a cup of water. Mix until the powder is dissolved. Dab it onto the burned areas with a soft cloth. This mixture will make the redness go away and will promote rapid healing. Repeat daily until the burns are healed.
