Yeah, I’ve noticed this. I think it might come from some sort of self-righteous bias, where people consciously want freedom, justice, peace, but forget all about that when their personal beliefs and standards come in; personal beliefs and such are primarily the reason beyond most, if not all wars.

I’ve stopped being an idealist that believed its possible for human beings to let go of pride and just realize all this petty fighting will get us nowhere, and instead use our differences to help the world. I think I’ve just given up on people for this among many other reasons. I won’t get in the way or peace, freedom, or justice, but if someone else wants to impede that, I’m tired of wasting time worrying about it. I have other things to do.

Maybe because people value things as well as freedom, justice, and peace. However in my opinion, value of things is only ever going to get in the way of other abstract values.
Different views are also what set us apart.
Terrorists fight wars for peace, justice and freedom. But their peace, justice and freedom impinges on others, as well as ours on theirs.
