I have a stepdaughter. She’s 21. She has pretty much given up on her biological father. She tried to have a relationship with him, but he just wasn’t up to it.

I don’t know your situation, as you haven’t provided very much information. But some parents just don’t know how to love or return love. That’s how my daughter’s biological father is. She gave it all she had and she still got nothing in return. It’s not her fault–it’s his fault.

You may have to lower your expectations. Again, not every parent is a model parent. If a person’s mother or father wasn’t very affectionate, guess what?

Look at your father and emulate his good points. Then search yourself for his faults. Adjust your outlook on life and your personality accordingly!
