Family help: I am unemployed and disabled. - Help.com

I am unemployed and disabled.

I am overwhelmed because I have no real income, and I need to support my family. I am trying to do online surveys, but most of them want you to particiapte in some sort of buying and I do not have the money to do this. I am tryinig to get back up on my feet. I can not do the kind of work that I used to, so I am looking for a job that I can do. My former company does not want to pay me unemployment because I have applied for SSI. It is not guaranteed that SSI will be given, and even if I do qualify, it could take a lot longer to get. Still after almost two years of solid work history in a management position, the company has said they do not want to pay for unemployment while I am seeking another job. They also act like I do not exist! I mean, they have me on their roster it seems, but they do not have any work that I can do for them. I am extremenly frustrated because my family has little food, and we are not able to pay all of our bills. I just need some new fresh ideas of how I might earn some money and where to look for work. I have a solid work history and work ethic, I just need a little help right now. I am trying to remain grateful and possitive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am posting this as anonymous so that my former company’s lawyers might not be able to use this post against me. Thank you!

Did you file for unemployment? It sounds like they have you as an employee but has no work for you is this correct? If yes then you qualify for unemployment and need to apply……if your company denies your claim appeal it because it sounds like you qualify for it….once you file keep filing every week even if you are disputing it because once it goes to appeal they will have to pay you all the back weeks from the first date you applied. But you must continue to file for benefits weekly to get the back pay.

More info would help!

You should talk to a labor attorney. You should be able to get a free consultation. Don’t worry about your company–worry about what you are entitled to. But if you don’t assert your rights–then you don’t have any rights!

Getting paying online jobs is hard. Someone may be able to recommend a legitimate online job source–but I do not know of any myself.

If you were disabled at work, and live in the USA, you should be able to get workman’s compensation. If you were laid off, you should be eligible for unemployment assistance. You really need some solid legal advice–and you cannot trust your company to either tell you the truth or do right by you. Talk to an attorney!
