Is this sort of offensive to say to someone you’re about to sleep with?

We aren’t dating, we’re friends - it was a casual, one-night only thing. I’m very liberal, but I was still shocked to hear: “By the way, I’m going to need you to get an abortion if something goes wrong. Is that okay with you?” Am I overreacting?

That is kind of stupid. It is insensitive and besides there is such a thing as the morning after pill. They are available without a prescription over the counter to anyone 17 years old and up…

I can’t think of anything that would kill my mood faster than that! It’s just an awful thing to come out with. If I were you I wouldn’t go back there again, if you did by some chance end up pregnant I can’t see him supporting you through this abortion he insists you have. There’s nothing wrong with being liberal but aim to do it with someone who respects you.
