Should I use long tail keywords for this new start up company?

I am a new intern for this company and I don’t know a thing about keywords and I just started learning how to use Google KeyWord Tool. I been told many times to use long tail keyword because you get less competition and better optimization. I learned some of this in my marketing class.

The new start up company is a way for people to take courses that they want to take like cooking, dance, piano, drawing classes they can take in their local facility. I got a lot of search results some over 200,000 and some over millions and even 10 million search results. To me, I think the lesser the search results the better, but not to little because there will less competition.

How should I got about the long tail keywords? I chose keywords like cooking class, piano lessons, ballet classes, but they are only 2 words. What kind of long tail keywords can I use that’s effective and can drive traffic?

Only you can find out, which long tail keywords you have to use. We don’t know your company. Study all kind of customer information given out by your company to find the appropriate keywords.
