Topless Problems

I lifeguard at a beach, I can deal with every problem that comes my way;
Except I CAN NOT and refuse to tolerate topless woman on a family beach,there are children around, and I find it offensive. It does not happen often because most woman have standards, however there have been a few instances where it has happened.
As an FYI it is technically legal in my location, that does not make it acceptable. To make it perfectly clear i understand the need for woman’s rights but this is not a woman’s rights issue this is about basic hygienic morals.
anyone with any advice or views?
Thanks

Hygienic morals? You can’t get germs off of boobs than you can’t get from any other part of a body exposed by a traditional bathing suit. It can be distracting or in some cases unsightly, but if it is legal, and nobody else was bothered, I wouldn’t make a fuss.

I respect your right to your view, but if it’s legal you should probably leave it alone. As a mother, I view it as primarily a body part designed to feed babies, and am actually more offended by the sexualization our culture has done to it, to the point where some women are harassed when they attempt to feed their babies, even when well covered up. I could see your point though if the woman is topless and engaging in more intimate activities, but if she is just getting a sun tan, I don’t see the problem.

Just giving you a different point of view, I in no way expect or desire you to change your opinion =D

I’m not referring to bacteria im talking about healthy boundaries and I have gotten complaints from the patrons in the past.

I think you’re right, I see nothing wrong with breast feeding, it is strictly when I see it done for superficial purposes that I am offended,thanks for the input both!

No problem! Honestly, I think it would probably make me uncomfortable.

What does the company you work for think about the issue? If they don’t care then you shouldn’t care. If you make it personal someone will eventually get you fired or take you to court. The families that bring their children should know that toplessness is acceptable, it’s their choice.

I don’t think it’s so much that the kids have a problem with nudity as the parents have a problem with their kids seeing nudity. As long as parents prepare their kids for what they will be seeing at these topless beaches, then I should think the kids will be more comfortable with the things that are presented to their eyes and not mind it so much. Personally, I believe it’s a great way to better equip kids for the adult world. The problem is many parents like to instill the idea of nudity as being something dirty into the minds of their children, which induces them to believe that it’s repulsive and unacceptable - no matter the circumstances. This leads kids to grow up believing that nudity is not normal and natural part of life, and that should not be the objective of parents.

I’ve been to beaches where all the kids were naked, so they’d be much more surprised by people wearing clothes. That was in Central America, though, quite a ways away from here.

Morally and social boundary wise, women can and should be as dressed or undressed as men are allowed to be. There is no moral or hygienic difference between male and female chests.

Having said that, though, if the other users of a public area are offended, then the person (whether male or female) should be gently made aware of the situation. The area is for the enjoyment of everyone and therefore (to some extent) majority rules.

You are such an idiot… Topless is about woman right’s issue as much as showing our hair is a woman right issue if a woman is living in a islamic fundamentalist dominated country… You are not the one to decide what an individual feels like wearing in public. Each one makes it own decision based in each one morality and views. You are the one who should find your own reason why topless women in a beach affects you. There is no hygienic rules against topless. What you consider superficial others can consider essential. You are in society, respect democracy and people freedom that has cost thousand of lifes to conquer.
