So as you know today is the Fourth of July.

My family and I are going to a “Friends” house for a Fireworks show, but I’m nervous because some of these people are really judgmental, and I have scars on my arms from self-harm. Now before you say wear bracelets, I will be dealing with fire I don’t want them to melt or get burnt some how, so I don’t want to wear them. Should I just not care, and don’t wear them and wear my scars proudly, or should I be cautious about what they will say? I do have some new burns on my arms so they are noticeable. Thank you.

No, I’m not ashamed, I feel like it is the stronger thing to do, If I didn’t start doing it I would have killed myself.

I hope you stopped the self cutting a longer way back.
So the scars are the proof for the ending, and you may be proud of it!

Well, maybe some people will confront you with it and want to know more about.
Then you just answer in a nice but short way: “You know, I’ve self-harmed, but it’s a long time ago, and I don’t want to talk about anymore. Please bear with me.” (If the will insist, stop talking and turn away.)

Then I would go with whatever makes you comfortable! - No matter what you do in this life people will judge you for it. Its far more important to be happy in yourself than it is to please others :)
