Water help: Is it true that when you get a belly piercing, it takes 1 full year to recover? - Help.com

Is it true that when you get a belly piercing, it takes 1 full year to recover?

And if you get it in the summer time, will it get infected if you go in the water?

There is a slim chance of infection; you are advised to be very careful! The problem with this piercing is that there is always a lot of contact, whether it be with your clothes or rolling around while sleeping etc. For this reason it can take a long time to heal and that’s just a consequence you’d have to deal with.

Honestly, there’s never really a good time! You just have to accept that there might be complications and it may get infected, as with most piercings. If you’re set on it, I would recommend getting a piercing in the Summer, because you have the holidays to recover to some extent.

Are you going on Summer holiday? Maybe wait until after then, because the last thing you want is to be uncomfortable.

Mine took about 4 months to heal, but it got slightly infected. Just be sure to clean it at least twice a day.
