normal help: I’m an infantry combat veteran. - Help.com

This post left anonymously

I’m an infantry combat veteran.

I’ve been through it all, I’ve killed more than my share of people and sometimes, I get that bloodlust back. Sometimes I just fantasize about killing again and this seriously concerns me.

I realize it’s just a fantasy but I think, subconsciously I miss killing. I miss the adrenaline, I miss combat and this scares me.

Is this normal? Do civies also feel this lust for killing? Is this human nature or the result of a ****** up psyche?

I don’t ever feel like killing people. The thought repulses me. I don’t think normal people feel like killing other people. I could definitely see how killing people could damage you. You should strongly consider seeing a psychologist of some kind I think.

It is what you get used to. I was around when a lot of Viet Nam vets were coming home and they pretty much missed the action too. I have an uncle who still misses it. He did three tours of duty in Nam and says he would love to be back there with a machine gun again. He was the king of the jungle.

I think that people like ” Verge” shouldnt reply on posts that he or she thinks of as ” repulsive”.. If you don’t agree with it then do not comment on it and go on something else, thank you verge. Anyway, If your not into the whole shrink thing, I think you should take on a hobby to get your mind off of it. War will always be with you , as you know, its how you live afterwards that really matters.
