Would you still go to university even if you got bad grades and hated studying?

But you felt pressured into getting a degree because society says it’s the right thing to do, and you also wanted to experience that student lifestyle, and you couldn’t find a job, so those are the only reasons you’re going to uni?

If I wanted a decent career I would attend University. Furthermore, I know that life is full of things I don’t like doing but I still have to do them and I would look at attending University and studying as a learning experience and jut one of those things in life one must do even if they dislike all it entails. But ultimately it is up to you.

Thanks for your answer. But why do people think that there aren’t decent careers that can be attained by not going to university? There’s so much out there that one could do with their life.

Well, there’s always college… depending where you are, i guess, it can offer pretty much the same courses/degrees as university, and there’s more hands-on types of jobs like shops, etc. And yea like Freud said if you want a good job or recognition, then post-secondary is pretty much a must. more job opportunities will open after you get a degree, so you’ll get more options.

Because what you can do is very limited and the pay is minimal.

i know that situation. i know what i want to do and i love it (modelling in 3ds max) but when the prof tries to tell us something nonsense **** and we have to listen that’s freaking me out, because i know i could do something useful. but it doesnt matter if you’re the best 3d artist if there’s no paper that you studied 4, 5 or 6 years about something you will never use in real life. so even if half of that studying is crap, you have to go through it. or maybe not if you are really good at something. even Einstein was bad at studying… but today if you want to work in an office or in a company you’ll need that piece of paper…

OK. What if someone was so bad at studying that they got a very low grade degree? Would there be much point in that?

I’m not so sure those are the right reasons to motivate you to do well in school and help you successfully finish. The truth is, if you hate doing a task then you’re more than likely going to do it not so well. For instance, if I hate going to work every day and find nothing about my duties remotely interesting, then I am more apt to put in a halfhearted effort and either not accomplish everything or do a poor job. Similarly, if one goes to school with the same attitude then it would be counterintuitive to expect good results. I’m not saying you should wholly love studying, because most students do not love doing it. I’m only saying that absolutely hating it will only do you a disservice. Figure out what you could see yourself doing and what you believe you’d enjoy in life, then figure out how you need to go about achieving it. If a college degree is necessary for whatever activity you choose, then make that your goal in life and let your desire to achieve this goal motivate you to do well in school.

then maybe you should do what you like. you are just wasting your time/money if you go to a university and you get a very low grade degree (my opinion). if you do what you really like you can be a pro… but dont be surprised if your better than someone and that someone gets the job just because you dont have that paper the other one has…

I think that people go to college or University or whatever you want to call it to get degrees, so they can get a good career. I really doubt there are all that many people who go because they want to.

I am not that in favor of the PHD (pile it higher deeper).
I would rather find some area in life which really improves the world and work on that.Do your own original work. You don’t need to go to school to learn about
the old world and how it was done.We need the new world.
