I need relationship help.

I’ll soon be a sophomore in a small private college. During my freshman year I met a very nice guy that happened to be a senior. We’ve been dating for four months to the day. We live over 200 miles away from each other so we don’t get to spend a whole lot of time together. He has a year long internship a few states away and I’ll be in school making any physical relationship near impossible. We’re both hesitant to try a long distance relationship, but we’re also both hesitant to break up. I don’t really know what I want to do. Any advice?

Zirbel, you make such thoughtful replies.

Anonymous, It almost sounds like you both want to break up but you both don’t want to let go of what you have. My opinion of course. What do you think?

Just try it out. Go into knowing you’ll both feel free to say if its not working.

If you break up now, you’ll always wonder if it could have worked.

If you give it a try and then break up, at least you’ll know.

And if it does workout, all the better. That’s how I see it.

Don’t get your hopes up, situations like this only work out in the movies.

and they don’t always work out in the movies, either.

Listen to your brain.

There’s just as many reasons things can’t work out as there are that they can. You just have to be willing to let go of how.
