They won’t let you pay 6 months up front or you can’t find a one bedroom place?

I’ve tried paying up front before and had the same problem. Many places don’t like accepting payment up front as they will post a large income one month, and then post zero income for the next stretch of months until the next payment is due. It throws off their books. It seems silly, but when you consider that most properties are run by larger companies, it makes sense that things would be uber-standardized to ensure taxes/profits/income are properly stated and estimated.

I cant find a place that will let me pay six months up front for a one bedroom. There was a possibility but they totally ****** me over.. Long story short my friend lives there and paid up front but when I pay for the app, they deny me even though her and I aee under the same circumstances. Pretty lame right?

She might have credit though, if you don’t have credit they may not want you to even be a candidate.

Maybe I don’t understand it the right way:
Is the problem to pay up front, or is the problem to find a one bedroom place anyway (up front paid or not)?

If it’s the upfront paying you can rule it with an automatic payment handling from your bank account, no?

Seems really weird to me. Almost everyone I know can get an apartment with cash up front. It is usually the only way you can get away without a year lease. Most places will reant an apartment to you for any period of time at all as long as you pay up front, they love it. Are you very young? It is hard to rent if you are under 21. They especially hate teenagers, they have a habit of tearing things up.

Hmmm. That’s truly weird. Seems fishy to me.

In our local area it’s the norm that apartments will not accept advance rent payment and require personal check, cashier’s check, or money order (will not accept cash). This is regardless of the prospective tenant’s age, verified income/employment, and verified credit/rental history.

Now if you were renting from a private lease-holder/manager I might expect some greater flexibility with accepting cash payment in advance. With rental companies managing most apartment complexes in our area, it’s pretty much understood that you just have to stop in once a month with a personal check…
