I am alone, lost my job a few years back due to downsizing, and now work a minimum wage job, have noplace to really call home, rent a room.

I am getting older almost 60 years old, have a BA in English, and am so depressed, because the future is not looking good for me. I need help, but not sure what kind and where to turn.

Stop looking at the negative sides. You have a job & a place to stay. I’m jobless, account negative & unemployment checks are on a freeze. I’m behind on majority of my bills & I’m on a waiting list to even help to find housing. I know things seem like they’re not going your way but at least you have more than what a lot of people have. Hope things get better for you…you never know you might get promoted.

I can assure you that getting a higher paying job isn’t in the cards, unless you KNOW somebody. Age discrimination is very real and it’s being practiced by 99.5% of all businesses. Our government does nothing about it. They think you’ll want more money, so they hire the youngest and cheapest workers.

Just thank God you are surviving and will soon be eligible for Social Security. But if you ever want to start a class action lawsuit against businesses that age discriminate, let me know!
