My first shift for my new job ends on Sunday at 1am,
and my mum’s just given me £20 to get a cab home as she doesn’t like the idea of me getting the night bus alone. I just looked up quotes online and it looks like it’d cost £36! Is this normal for a 12 mile journey? Is this just a price for booking in advance, and are cab journeys cheaper when you just call one at the time you want it? (I’ve never gotten a cab before so I don’t really know).
Is it worth paying extra to get straight home in a cab in 30 minutes, or should I just be cheap and use my free Oyster card for the 1 hour 45 minute bus journey? Bearing in mind this is my one and only shift that ends at 1am; my others end at safer times.
