I know is seems bizarre but is it possible to alter the future look of a human being using animals genes?

The most I know about this is that scientists managed to make glow in the dark albino rabbits using genes from jellyfish but I’m wandering how far they have actually gone.

(please don’t just give me links if your going to, I don’t have enough time to look through half of the websites people give me, sorry)

No, but that would be interesting if you could do that to someone

Because I’m curious

lol! you are very confusing. if you already have the answer, what are you curious about?

just to be clear. I said “yes” to “is it possible to alter the future look of a human being using animals genes?”

if you want me to answer a different question, you will have to post it first. :)

Sorry, I thought you said ‘I already have the answer why are you asking the question ;)’ I’m never awake enough to not make reading mistakes sometimes.

I was wandering if something like that has been tried yet.

Marlin is right. Just look at Sarah Palin. We managed to make her look halfway human despite the Eunectes murinus form she evolved from.

depends on what you mean.

to a certain extent it is happening and always has been happening. b/c that’s how nature works.

something like 95% of the human genome is shared with the ape genome.

but are you asking if we’re deliberately messing with our genes? well, yes, but nothing so drastic that we’ve created a new human species or anything. I think there are ethical rules on that one.

I’m talking about playing god in a way, I was talking to my friend and we ended up having a conversation about if it was possible to give a human a tail or something, I doubt they would have gone that far but I’m still wandering about it.

it is theoretically possible, read an article the other day that said man and his best friend (the dog) are allready swapping various recombinant dna through various viruses that both can get. in theory if that were to continue eventually its concievable that we’d be closer to canine than homoerectus I suppose.

so. that happens with lots of animals. not just dogs. viruses travel in many ways too, parasites, biting flies, zombies, etc.

or maybe, we’d stay the same and the dogs would become more human-like?

well that’s were those darned ethical rules come in.

but you never know. I’m sure there’s a mad scientist hidden away in somewhere funded by a billionaire’s spoiled kid…

Yes they can but do you think they have any volunteers? Actually they have been working on taking frozen mammoth genes and putting it into an elephants stomach to give birth to a mommoth. I fact they have done that to fish and it was successful. A rainbow trout gave birth to a comet fish.:-) cool huh. Science is amazing

well it certainly sounds amazing that they are trying to make a dog more human like, I know it seems far fetched at the moment but I would be amazed if they got up to the stage were they have dogs that walk around like Anubis and talk like humans.

of coarse I’m sure they might run into some problems from politics to viruses but I’m positive they will get quite far with these sorts of experiments, I’m actually quite exited to see if they will make some really interesting hybrid in 20 years or so.

I bet that will be the thing to end racism…

but only by starting hybrid-ism

:(

Yeah well, you can’t change how humans work.

If it dose get as far as creating a whole new race of intelligent beings then it could end up creating a large group of haters who don’t think they should exist, just like with gays, jews, blacks and so on…

I can just hope that if that dose happen then the hybrid children wont be treated as badly as those others in the past. (If possible I’d like everyone to get along with them but I can only hope)
