He does not need a doctor. He needs rest and to keep his body warm and full of fluids. Really does he smoke or drink? Is he still working? If he stops all bad habits and rests and takes care of his body for three days he will be better. If he is not then you can tell him to go to a doctor.

People do not want to take care of themselves they just want a pill to make everything better. That is why antibiotics are so over prescribed and becoming less and less effective. He needs rest, make him call in sick and stay in bed.

And seawater nasal pressure spray is very helpful too, over the counter at any pharmacy.
