How do I tell my mum I’ve been smoking?

I know smoking is wrong etc, but I’ve been doing it secretly and someone has now caught me and there’s a very strong likelihood my mum will find out… what do I do? What do I say?

If she is still doing your washing, she already knows you are smoking, and now probably waiting for you to tell her. She will have smelt it on your clothes.

Thanks everyone. I just told her because I was really worried and tearing myself up about it. It wasn’t nice at all and this kind of thing never goes down ‘well’ but it went as well as it probably could have. I can stop and I will do now.

in my personal opinion smoking is not that bad as not telling your parents about it. Now its not just wrong, but cheating on their trust and all which is so much more wrong. If I were you, I would tell her straight away.

Hey just sraight up to her and say mom can we talk and tell her the truth yea i telling the truth could probalyget you grounded but it is the right thing to do. ok just ask yourself wwjd (what would jesus do) he would tell his mom that he smokes and that he knows that it’s wrong and he is sorry. then he would ask her if she will forgive him. before you tell her do this and read it in your bible and believe it. ok. phillippians 4:13 i can do all things through christ who gives me strength. also anythings possible when god is on your side. here is a verse that help me change my life. john 14:6 jesus answered ” i am the way, the truth and the life. no one comes to the father except through me. so thnk obout it.

Thanks everyone, everything you’ve said is right. Lying about things is far worse than just smoking… I’ve told her now and it was pretty horrible but I’m glad I told her rather than her hearing from someone else.

My mum has no sense of smell and even if she did she smokes around 30 a day herself, lol, so it was reasonably easy for me to hide it from her until now

Excuse me OP, but I love this.
I realise that you hadnt contributed any mention of God or the bible. I understand this. But it is great advice nonetheless.
However, seeing as you hadnt mentioned any word of God or the bible I understand that you may want to approach this on a non-biblical basis, on what you consider as pragmatic terms.
Jew_201 is well-meaning though.
And the advice certainly has merit.

I suggest, to really convince her that you realized the error of your ways, read through this website and then show it to her and explain some of the major insights and points there… http://whyquit.com/ (This may seem like a silly idea since it has the ulterior motive of liberating her from a crippling and deadly slavery, but that’s not really so silly, if you think about it.)
