I am having a hard time trying to understand Emerson’s “The Poet”?

Hi Y!A. I’m having a hard time trying to understand about Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “The Poet”. From what I’ve read from the piece, as well as summaries online, I believe that Emerson believes that everything is a part of nature, and that everything in nature is beautiful. I also believe that Emerson sets the standard for poets in his piece.

However, I’m having a hard time trying to understand this piece. Sorry for bad language, English is not my first language.

Hmm, I don’t know, but if you read his essay on nature, which is pretty good, it starts off with a little poem which seems to express the levels of transcendence in nature, from crude matter, to heights of glory:

“A subtle chain of countless rings
The next unto the farthest brings;
The eye reads omens where it goes,
And speaks all languages the rose;
And, striving to be man, the worm
Mounts through all the spires of form.”

Here’s an essay about his essay on nature: http://www.cliffsnotes.com/study_guid…

It’s worth reading because he is a better philosopher than poet, but this also gives the link toward how his philosophy is poetic and encompasses poetry.
