I’ve had a dream to get into veterinary school for years now.

I attended a summer college vet program at Cornell University and my GPA is 3.8 but my ACT score is 22. I want to get into the best college for pre-vet that I can.. do yall think I should retake the ACT again and shoot for a higher grade or would it be ok as is?

look at the school(s) you possibly want to go to and see what the requirements are to get in. I think with a 3.8 GPA you shouldn’t have a problem getting in but it may also depend on the school.

lol I don’t blame you there I took as well and I hated it, but I am also a horrible test taker and was surprised at the score I got because it was only 2 or 3 points lower than one of the smartest people in my class. But like I said check out the requirements. I didn’t go to school to be a vet and I went to school in Montana but I got in with a 21 on my ACT

I have often heard it is harder to get into vet school than med school and the sites I just looked at pretty much said the same thing. You will never get in with a 22 ACT.

Kansas State requires a 29 ACT with its application. Where are you planning on going?

No undergraduate degree is required to get into vet school. You do need it to get in.

I got to thinking about this last night and decided to check on it today. My dad is a veterinarian (DVM) so I thought I knew but of course EVERYTHING changes. It is not like it was when he went to school. The veterinary colleges all have college courses they want you to take before you apply to their school now. Each one has different requirements so it is very important that you know where you want to go before you start taking these classes. I looked up Kansas State, Purdue, and the University of Tennessee and they are all completely different. Each one favors students from in-state though, so if you live in a state that has a school it would be easiest to get into that one.

If you buckle down now and take the per-requirements and get a 4.0 gpa your ACT will not matter. It is never too late, go for it.
