Help.com was started by 3 men from ZDNet. ZDNet (http://www.zdnet.com/) is part of the Ziff Davis publishing group. The usernames of the 3 men are Erik, C.M.Theisen, and Jeff.
It was originally started in the offices in San Francisco, CA and currently still resides on the servers there. When CBS Interactive took over ownership I’m not sure.

Hi, I just wanted to warn the people that this is C.M.Theisen’s last week as a Help.com moderator. My last day working as a full-time staff moderator is this Friday, March 2.
Still, it’s not all bad news. I will still be visiting Help.com and answering questions - I just won’t be here on a daily basis any longer. I am changing careers and starting a new job as a life insurance agent. However, I will still be involved with the community. The Help.com staff are amazing co-workers and I’ve enjoyed working with them immensely. I’ve also come to know, respect and like a number of regular users here. It has truly been a priviledge to meet so many generous and kind people. So I really do look forward to visiting the site as a regular user.

years ago I dreamed to have site and help people , In the first times when I am here, I did not enjoy ,I was ready to leave at any times
and when i get used to this site it became different .
Being here are still subject to my will too but It does not bother me much as long Responds.

Hey Red Thanks! Southern Comfort had the answer it was Nov 9th, 2005 that help.com had it’s very first post!
So this coming November it will be 7 years in the making! Kinda cool huh!
