A knight climbing a slippery mountain cliff ^^ Knights in general are fun–but hard–to draw. Well, at least for me.
I see a twofold representation of the world.
The grey mechanics and the colorfu, vibrant living nature.
Build it up from the bottom with oil and chemicals running down on the one side.
A glorious waterfall on the other.
Birds fly high in beautiful colors.
A formation of planes fill the air with smoke.
In the middle is the workings of the factory.
The circle of life with animals doing what animals do.
Idk.
Inspiration is not hard to find. I wish i could draw or paint to get it out of the head though.

so not to freak you out or anything, but I got a marker and started drawing on the canvas anyway because I had this really cool idea, and its freakishly almost exactly like what you described. Well, not really. It’s a castle with a tree growing out of it, but it’s like nature and man made things colliding, and I was going to add more to it like you said. I don’t know, I felt like you were describing what I was drawing when I read it, and i felt like we had a moment. I just did it and then read what you wrote after.
weird.
On the topic of contrasts, light and dark is a popular theme, as is good and evil.
Fire and ice ^^ Life and death. One of my personal favorites. Most things are displayed well by comparisons.

weird.
That´s cool.
I believe in connection beyond the comprehensible so i don´t find it weird at all.

I don’t like it so far, but I JUST started so I have hours/days left to invest in it. It barely has any color, which I will fix, but I have yet to add detail to the castle (or get the color right) and I haven’t touched the tree yet. I added a solidish background color, the bluish purple, which I will probably add on to later with mist/fog/clouds/stars/flying pigs/who knows?
Okay, so I kind of have this castle/tree/space idea going on. What else should I do to keep it from becoming flat? I liked the good vs. evil theme and thought maybe if I had the castle and tree opposite colors they would kind of give off that feel, but what else can I do to make this a nice piece?
And it’s suppose to be cartoony, not realistic. :)
thanks everyone so far who replied! I appreciate it :)
My older brother drew a castle on a similar vein to this once. It was a castle on a hill, with a solitary road leading up to it. In the castle, the tallest tower had a single light turned on, with the rest of the castle being unlit. Meanwhile, in the sky, dark red and blue clouds gathered and swirled in towards the light in the castle.
Sort of a “this gathering darkness” kind of concept. I liked it a lot.
If that doesn’t give you enough interesting ideas, perhaps consider having the castle fall into disarray and disrepair in some parts offset by being well-maintained and built up in others. So less good and evil, but more chaos and order.

I love that.
I’m not going to use that specific idea because, well, I want to come up with something my own, but it that idea gives me ideas.
It inspires me! thank you for telling me about it! I really love the one light one and solitary road parts. I bet it was a really neat painting.

I have no idea what to do with this now…:(
The pink background of the page makes it really hard to look at your painting I must say …
As for the painting, keep going. What do you think is evil? How are you showing/symbolizing it in your painting? And what is Good to you?

I don’t know, I had in mind the castle being the “evil” figure and the tree, being nature and organic and pure, being a counteractive color that came off as “good”, but I couldn’t find the right colors, so I made the castle really girls instead. So I guess I’m ditching the good/evil theme :( and going with fun, colorful, girly, cartoon, weird instead…:P
I just don’t know what I want to do with this to pursue that. The castle is just…not very pretty lol. And the tree is plain. And the space below and behind is just…space.
:0
I don’t have much time but I like that! you can always completely change it and make it into something abstract.
Some of my least favorite drawings have become my favorites because with abstract art, the mistakes can transform easily.
Thanks for showing me that post! I hope you’re doing well!

I am almost done.
If anyone was wondering haha:)
well, thank you everyone for your wonderful ideas!:) even if I didn’t use a lot of them..I will keep them all in mind:D
I like your painting! I like how you made the roots (?) dark and almost part of one of the towers. I like the tree trunk, and how the branches kind of reach out. It’s a little scary … yet whimsical. Very nice.
Your paintings Flower #1 and Peaches and “le me” make me think of “Séraphine,” a rather strange French movie with some incredible paintings in it (by Séraphine), available on Netflix. You might like to see it. “Awestruck by the vibrant and imaginative artwork of uneducated housekeeper Séraphine Louis (Yolande Moreau) — who spends her days doing menial chores — German art critic Wilhelm Unde (Ulrich Tukur) takes the promising painter under his wing. Though her neighbors and others dismiss Séraphine’s work, Unde is determined to turn the obscure French artist into a star in this revelatory biopic also starring Geneviève Mnich and Nico Rogner.”
Here are some, but not the best ones … you have to see them in the movie.

that looks really interesting. Next time I go to my friends place who has wifi, i’ll check it out.
You should write your name in this big intense font:)
Really lame I know but its all I can think of!
have you found your inspiration yet?
i have something for you to see, and in that some thing of a list to find
and if you can write the finds, can you illistrate them, as a rendition of the original, with out lossing the value of the original
THAT would be an interesting challange
this is the “eagle head nebula”
http://www.controltheweb.com/images/d…
the first 2 things id like to to find are 1) the screaming eagle,
and
2) the man
they are inter twined, and gave a stageringly profound meaning to be shared with a Christian
i havent drawn or painted in almost 13 years,,,i just felt the spark agine
it didnt last long,, but it was a comforting experiance
good to know it’s still there somewhere

You need to get back in the art scene :) it’s peaceful here.

it is best seen whene you can see them, and at this time i doubt i can stick figure draw the man, but i might be able to find a pic of an eagle online to match the activity in the nebula
ill get on this,,might take a little while
what did i used to draw? inspirations
my greatest acheavment was of a white tiger cub, done in pencile
the first step is to see eagles
consider, look, feel, , and above all else …….observe…

I like the idea about nature taking back what it once had :)
i just love that theme in general, :) im tempted to get a load of paints and a canvas myself and do something along those lines :)

you should! :) it’s a very interesting idea, I agree.
:D i think i’d do something personal to me, I love my laptop and technology, but i also feel very close to the earth, and im pagan, so maybe a cast circle (with the coloured candles) with my laptop in the centre with something growing around it. or like an ipod with something natural instead of headphones, like vines with cool flowers? :3
or is that too far out?

that would be really cool! you could have vines and leaves growing out of the keyboard or wrapping around it lol. or maybe having flowers growing out of it, like the CD drive or something. I think that’s a really neat idea.
oooh thank you :D that’s so cool :D i may have to sketch this!
soooo badly want a canvas now XD
ok, http://m.hubblesite.org/vote/pr1995044c
i guess this is straight from naa,,zommed in on the eaglehead,
at the bottom of the page is a linkback to the full “3 pilliars of creation” as nasa has dubbed it
look at the B&W photo, the eagle photos linke above, & the full nebula a few times back and forth,,you’ll see it

If you paint a bridge of light between heaven and earth, then you can display at on this website and put a price tag on it for a million dollars and see if anyone wants to buy it:
