Thought help: I don’t think this is normal - Help.com

I don’t think this is normal

Usually I pick up my manager before I go to work. Her house is close to mine and we go to work the same time. one day I ended up going to work at 5pm and she went to work at 3pm so I thought she could get tim (another coworker) to pick her up and everything will be fine right. He said yes, he didn’t care. I told her to text me or call if something went wrong because he’s not the most reliable person and I would pick her up. that night I could not sleep. The whole time I was worried that he wouldn’t pick her up. I kept waking up what seemed like every five min. Finally when I got up I was still worried that he wouldn’t pick her up so the whole time I kept checking my phone. Even though the sound was on I would still check it just in case the sound some how wouldn’t come on. I was so anxious the entire time. Finally at 3 I called to make sure she got there on time and of course she did. All of my worrying was for nothing.

It is not abnormal to worry about someone you care about.

I’ve had anxiety that bad about jobs that I shouldn’t have even stayed at in the first place. Places I was so mistreated. So, the anxiety was really some sort of performance anxiety — I worked so hard, I just wanted everything to work out right. So then if something seemed risky, despite my best intentions, I could get really worried, even if the situation was unimportant and with mean people making my life a nightmare. The worry was all because it’s so troubling when people are mean to the innocent.

Anyway, I don’t think I said that clearly. The point is that I can relate in a way and think you should google up some anti-anxiety forums and tips and advice, and start working on worrying less. If you work on that as a project then you can live with less anxiety.

It’s a feeling known as responsibility. You didn’t want to leave your boss in a lurch.

But I think your boss needs to learn how to drive!

She knows how to drive. Her car broke down a couple of weeks ago and I have been picking her up until she can fix it.

I see! That’s great!

You were smart to check up on your friend, to make sure he picked her up!

It’s much smarter to get some sleep. Maybe you can make your phone or alarm clock be louder so you’re sure you’d wake up to them?
