An English question..

A client of mine told me a project we worked on long ago didn’t get approved and I want to reply that I’m sorry that the project didn’t go anywhere, but how should I word it better? :) Thank you!

Well that’s my go of it. Maybe add some personal stuff like “I had a good feeling about this aspect…” etc. Don’t draw it out though.
