You go to bed at 8:30 but dont sleep until 2pm, are you really tired in the next day, or do you feel OK, what do you mean your mind is on so many things:

The usual check list do you eat late
do you do mind splatering things like play fast video games up to 8:30

Is it that you have a lot on your mind which keeps you awake.

Meditation may help, though I am sure someone may suggest medication.

What time do you get up?

Your mind is restless. Try to be more calm at night and use a lot of energy during the day. Play sports, or run around, or take up jogging/kickboxing. It will help tire you out.

I have some ways, maybe those could help
A glass of warm milk before going to bed. Milk has some sleeping chemicals in it for baby cows (can’t remember what)

or try this,
Lie in bed, close your eyes, role them backwards…keep it in that postion for sometime (say 10 mins). It will induce sleep because eye muscles get tired and release sleeping chemicals again.

or try this audio - sleep like a log by paul mc kenna mp3 , it is a self-hynosis audio.

(Btw your avatar, it does looks like someone not getting enough sleep for some reason…lol are you okay …)

No wonder you can’t sleep. 8.30!
Try hanging on until at least 10 before you try to sleep

You can look up delayed sleep phase syndrome treatments. One good one you might not think of is bright light therapy — first thing in the morning, go out into direct sunlight, or other very bright light and make sure you stay exposed to it for a while. But that’s just an example, if you look on a little websearch you’ll see what I mean. And whatever you try, it’s not going to work right away, because sleep patterns take time to really change, like a few weeks maybe.
