How much money does it cost to live in the UK at the minimum and average?

Apartment + food + travel expenses or whatever. Just what the cost of living is. I don’t think i would be in London and I heard everywhere else is cheaper in general than there.
Also what does the average job pay and is there a minimum wage and what is it? This helps put the cost of living expenses into a more accurate view.

At least £13,400 a year before tax for a minimum standard of living — they say:

I think the amount people have to pay for rent and mortgage is shocking, If you own your own house you could live comfortably on £13,400 if you have to pay out rent or mortgage you would be in a tight spot, I feel £17000 is what you need.

Um…it depends on where you live tbh most places in Kent are quite cheap well the flats are anyway, my flat is like 600 odd quid a month for rent the deposit was 1500 I think, IDK how much food is because my sister gets it and there are three of us living in the flat, minimum wage is something like 6.20 an hour but that depends what job you work, if you work in say a DVD shop then minimum wage is 4 pound something an hour that’s what my sisters bf gets because he’s under 21 if you’re 21 and working in retail then obviously minimum wage goes up to 6 pounds. It all depends on if you want to live in a house or a flat, how many of you there are and what jobs you work.

Im not some fancy rich dude I havent even left my parents even yet. Im just insane that im even trying to figure this out.

Anywhere decent I would imagine it would be a few grand’s deposit and prob close to a thousand pound a month rent, honestly you’re better off moving to Kent even though some parts of it can be considered a shithole some parts are not bad and it is cheap they have flats here that can go as low as 600 pounds a month rent, and barely 2 grands deposit. Plane ticket aside you also need to think about transport and stuff, as for getting a job I can recommend a lot of job sites where they advertise certain jobs and stuff within Britain but looking for a job in Britain is like finding a needle in a haystack there aren’t really any jobs going about atm but it depends on how qualified you are I guess.

You also need to think about council tax as well, how much you’re gonna spend on food and luxuries (do your shopping in Asda because it’s the cheapest supermarket in my opinion, also we have hundred of Poundshops where you can buy food, toiletries, and extra stuff for just a pound) if you get a job how you’re gonna be able to afford transport to work

LOL that’s how much the really nice flats are here, but if you’re looking for something not too good and not too bad then you’ll find a place where the deposit is 600 or 700 the deposit is usually the same as the first months rent so yeah it is relatively cheap, I got it wrong i thought our deposit was 1500 but it cost that much altogether to move in and get new furniture.

There are jobs where you don’t have to be qualified you just need experience in other work places idk, good luck.

As long as it has a refrigerator and a stove and an oven and isnt infested with bugs or disgustingly filthy or have the bathroom and kitchen as the same room, i think im good.

Im not totally sure what deposits are. Is that just paying rent upfront? Do you get to choose to pay monthly or every 6 months?

tbanks

I think it’s monthly but that depends on where you live, and yeah if you want a place like that you can get somewhere that makes you pay 600-700 pounds a month in rent, I think it is paying rent up front but idk.

I like fish, chips and tea anyways. Its really hard to compare one country to another because there are so much expenses of things people spend money on. The UK has higher taxes on goods but the UK also has lower income taxes.
