friends help: I have never been truly interested in star signs and horoscopes, - Help.com

I have never been truly interested in star signs and

horoscopes, but recently I realized that almost all of my ex-girlfriends and good friends are Gemini or Sagittarius, while I am a Sagittarius. I find this odd, can’t really think of anybody I truly care for, or cared for except family who isn’t a Gemini or Sagittarius. Odd. Does anybody have similar experiences?

Yeah, I feel you. I’m a Virgo and my 2 bestfriends are Virgos as well. We are so close and compatible. I love them to death. And surprisingly, I dated this guy who’s also a Virgo whom I felt so attracted to. I found him very interesting cause we just think a like. Now, I’m in a relationship with an Aquarius. All these happened by coincidence. I wasn’t also truly interested in star signs until I noticed this :)) It’s weird. And, I also can’t think of anyone I ever cared for who is not a Virgo or Aquarius (likewise) except family members. It’s just always either a Virgo like me or an Aquarius :)) guess it commonly happens..

Astrology can be endlessly fascinating, but I try not to say that aloud because so many people are so intense about the fact that it is vague pseudo-science. But I can’t think of anything offhand so connected to so many different systems of psychology, sociology, religions, etc. That’s if you look at it deeply, and, so, I can imagine that less complicated things like birth signs and horoscopes can sometimes be strangely significant and meaningful too.

That’s what I found interesting, this coincidence :) Sure, I have read my horoscope once or twice in my life, out of boredom, not really believing it, as they don’t really come true, those astrological predictions, but I have never judged or gathered my friends after their horoscope, I just suddenly realized that it is as it is. Birds of a feather flock together I guess :)), and about my exes, they are different personalities altogether, one has nothing in common with the other, I just found strange realizing that almost everybody was born in July. Or December. No other month. :) This strange coincidence compelled me to post my post :) Seems that it’s the same for everybody, personalities attract similar personalities, and personal preferences may pick, even subconsciously similar traits in a person

Well, indeed, if you think about it, it seems, weird, illogical, uncomprehensible, and absurd, to think that all the stars, all those trillions of stars, with all the galaxies and whatnots in this vast universe exist only to give certain personality types to people born on certain months of the year, and the future can be predicted by their positions, and ancient civilisations who did not have our culture or technologically, in every way they were more primitive, yet they understood this, and we don’t. Certainly this makes astrology seem like a bogus science.

Exactly. And, so, that is the type of rigidly ignorant view that would make a person feel really weirded out upon discovering that there is some meaningfulness to it. The fact that there is meaning is not so important in itself (I’m probably never personally going to develop any real interest in all these things) but if I was close-minded in the first place and then something got in to convince me that there was something real, I might think it was like magic. How could something impossibly dumb and wrong say something uncannily right and true? And the secret is that just because something is a maligned and superstitious pseudoscience doesn’t mean it can’t be useful in learning about and describing reality.

True.
