Feeling help: I’m worried about my friend. - Help.com

I’m worried about my friend.

Last night we were talking, and she told me her nephew broke his hand and her niece was really sick (throwing up and just feeling terrible). He’s 4 and she’s 2. Today I called to see how they were doing and nobody answered. I sent her a message on facebook but she and her sister haven’t been on at all today. I’m just really concerned about her nephew and especially her niece. I pray to god something didn’t happen. What should I do? I’m just so so worried.

Your friendship is admirable but dont panic just yet. Look at it this way:
1. They might be busy and they dont have time to answer
2. Something really might be wrong, but solving the situation is all they are thinking about right now.

In both cases there is really not much you can do. Try to be with them in thoughts and you will see it gets better :)

Are you nearby? Do you have time to pop round and visit? Why not take a treat for your niece and nephew as an excuse for visiting, so you don’t feel awkward if everything was fine after all?

If visiting isn’t an option, or if this behaviour is really out of character for her, and/or you have a specific reason for fearing for their safety, you could phone the police (on a non-emergency line) or the local neighbourhood watch group, or even someone from a local church group - I’m sure any one of them could find someone to pop over and check everything is ok.

Unfortunately we aren’t close right now. We’re actually across the country.

She just signed on facebook, I messaged her, she didn’t respond and signed off minutes later. Is that a reason to be concerned?
