relationship help: I met with an IT recruiter a couple months ago and she said that - Help.com

I met with an IT recruiter a couple months ago and

she said that she spoke with another recruiter I had worked with a number of years ago and she said that I lie and I can’t be trusted. I have no idea why she would say that and I asked my current recruiter for more more explanation and she said she didn’t know or she didn’t want to tell me why. That ultimately hurt my relationship with my recruiter and I don’t work with her anymore. I’d like to think I’m a trustworthy and decent person but that has been on my mind ever since.

Should I send her (the old recruiter) an email and in a politically correct manner let her know that I didn’t appreciate it? Not sure how to handle this… :::sigh:::

If you really did lie, take the setbacks and just try to do better elsewhere.
If you didn’t lie, perhaps you should hold them accountable to their slander/libel.

She really has to be careful what she is writing about you and if you can, try to get a copy of it. She should not be saying things that affect your chances of getting employment. If possible, do not use her as a referee but someone trustworthy. If you need her as a referee if you could work with her to write things that do not jeapodise your getting employment. Best wishes
