Hope you find one you like soon . . . the job market is really tight right now.

And in the USA, all of the laws and rules are in the employer’s favor–another legacy of the upper 1 percent.

I wish more of my fellow Americans could travel to Europe and see the worker protections in place in those countries.

Look at Germany . . . a country about the size of Oregon, and they are the world’s No. 2 exporter; they were No. 1 until they were overtaken by China (thanks, Wal-Mart!). Their workers have a much higher standard of living, and they work, on average, about 35 hours per week. Their medical care system is also much better.

We’re told that we have the best everything in the world. We don’t. We are a sweatshop compared to Western Europe.

Hope my fellow Americans wake up some day!

I was a cook/clerk and it wasnt the job wearing me down per se. I’m in school too so it’s not like I don’t have other things going on . See, the problem…and why I felt so great about leaving this job was that these people were so incredibly two faced and willing to take advantage of that fact. They expect managment quality work (whicc I stepped up to thinking that it would gain me a promotion) but don’t want to pay for it. My department manager went to bat for me reminding them how many times I had saved their ***** in the year that I worked there when folks quit, didnt show up, or we were understaffed. They agreed with him…gave me a raise…then promptly cut my hours. Then when that manager walked out, they had me doing his jobs, all the paperwork, scheduling and even said “well you will likely be the next department head”, and I got my hours back. Then they went, fired the assistant manager and hired a new head manager to take the job I had been told I was getting promoted to….aaand cut my hours once again.

To make a long story short, I got a 1.25/hr raise and they cut my hours accordingly so I was making the exact same amount of money I was before…even with the raise. THAT’S NOT A RAISE!!!!

Then the straw that broke the camels back was after the new manager said ‘You are my most important guy and I’m going to give you 40 hours a week on next weeks schedule’ only to have the new schedule come out and I had a measly 21 hours. It was all I could take after seeing them go through 4 separate managers in the past year.

Yup I walked out after seeing that and I have never felt better about leaving a job….ever.

Not too worried about finding a job where I’m at, were sorta in a boom with Ironman 3 and the new NBC show Revolution filing here as well. Plus theres some movie with Jannifer Anniston filming here too…so all of the local business are booming here with all the production crews in town.

Plus as I mentioned earlier I’m in school and graduate in Dec. so there open even more doors for me. I got grant checks coming in Oct. so I think I’ll be okay. It’s not stopping me from looking for another job by any means, but I’m also not going to be living on the streets anytime soon either.

Just may be a bit tight on the food and beer budget until then, but it’s far better than dealing with all the BS that was involved with my last job by far.
