What is the best way to treat social anxiety disorder?

I have confidence issues and feel very self-conscious around others, especially girls. I would like to know what I can do to better myself so that I can be happier. Thanks.

There is no way to cure it, but you can see a therapist and get on meds, or you can go out and push yourself outside of your comfort zone a step at a time. Go out with some friends, maybe have one of them invite a female friend and get to know her little by little, then when you feel confident enough talking to her, it shouldn’t be too hard to talk to the next girl so on and so forth.
It’s kinda like learning to ride a bicycle you gotta practice and the more you do it, the better you’ll get at it =) and soon you won’t need any friends to go along with you when you go out, you’ll be able to make new friends anywhere you go.
I suffer from some social anxiety myself and I have a handful of friends. I’m still in the stepping out of my comfort zone phase.

Get involved in a small group of people. If they have Toastmaster’s in your town it is a great place to start and you will meet other’s that are there for the same reason.

Practice is the best way to get over this. First try becoming more comfortable around guys. Make a few friends, try to let loose, then try to talk to a few girls. Baby steps :)
