i want to see the 2014 olympics in russia so badly.

i am 15 (and a girl) right now so by the time that happens, i’ll be starting college already. the thing is, i’ve asked my dad if maybe i could see an event for my graduation present but he keeps denying it. i know money is tight but this is a once in a lifetime thing! if i seriously dont go i might cry. i know college is one expense but i dont know if getting a job is going to help me get enough money to pay for it myself. i couldnt get a job this summer because i was 15 and not 16 (which sucks!!!) I am currently learning Russian (and i am good at languages) so maybe in 2 years i can be really good at it, so it’s not like i’m heading to a foreign country head first.(i get tutored 3 days a week for 1 and a half hours) besides, i grew up in New York city so i do have some backbone and i am a tough person when i want to be. The reason i said that is because i know Russia is known for crimes and comes off as a ‘rude’ country. My dad is still defiant and every time i try to bring it up, he says: “NO.” I dont want to go to the olympics when i’m 30 or something! i want to do it when i am young teenager! i felt that i wasted some of my teenage years and i really want to be happy for once! Like i said, i’d be a freshman in college by the time so maybe i’d be able to grab a friend or bring a family member to come along! i’m sorry that this is long but i want to go to Russia 2014 so much that i want to cry!

Wait for the Summer Olympics 2020. They will be held in Turkey, Japan or Spain.
Better countries to visit than Russia. And you will be adult at that time.
Frankly: It’s stupid to dream of the 2014 Olympics in Russia. You will be 17 y.o. only and may not go there without your family.

this is a once in a lifetime thing

Might be (personally I don’t think so), but you have still still got all your life in front of you.
Cool down!

I understand about the Russia love, and would personally rather go there than the above mentioned countries, but you would probably enjoy it more as a young adult as opposed to a teenager. Plus, it’s being held in February which is after the semester has already started. Why not just wait and go to Russia as a trip instead of an Olympic venture. And who knows! They might have the Olympics there 6 years from now as sometimes countries host it multiple times close together.

Well, not six years as those are being held in South Korea, but maybe 10 or 12.
