What’s the deal with fat people?
As in a literal question, as I’d like to know more.

Eat more calories than the body burns, get fat. Or have a disorder. If the former then I know all about that from my fat days. The reason is because food tastes good and makes you feel good.

@ fairtale.
No, just want to know more about the few issues in life I don’t have.
@snar
That’s obvious but hadn’t connected them. I like eating, Looove great food, do valley tours of fine food districts - but it doesn’t make me feel good as such. Exercise makes me feel good - hense skinny…
@lifelover
I know you question is a retorical joke, but if you wanted to know, read any of my posts.
I want to know about fat people.
I am really tall, and several times a day people comment on it, and sometiimes ask what it’s like. I tell them. Lady asked today, and she was fat, but couldn’t ask her about it.
So bring on the taboo free land of help.com

Well I’ll tell you how and why I got fat. I was not an athletic kid, my parents never pushed me into sports and I had no friends to play with. So I didn’t do physical excerise. My sedentary and slow eastern european metabolism made me a bit chunky. Being a chunky bookworm loner isn’t good for ones self esteem. To boot, my parents both worked so I made my own dinner which was usually junk food.
So I got fat. And food became escapism. I’d binge eat when I didn’t feel good about things.
I gained an unhealthy amount of weight. Once you gain weight to that degree you don’t want to exercise because its embarrassing. Also in my case I had never learned good eating habits or exercise techniques.
But I decided I didn’t want to be the fat kid anymore so I went on a radical diet and worked out a bit.
And that was the end of that.
But you can see how the cycle can start and perpetuate itself. It isn’t hard, especially if you aren’t a particularly active person or a happy person.
One thing I’ve noticed is that fat people are slightly more comfortable to hug than skinny bony people. I have no idea what the deal is with skinny bony people, but if they ate some more they might be more squishy like a comfortable pillow when you hug them.
@anon
Me, obviously. Geeeees, even the trolls are struggling these days

One difference is that being very obese can be a serious health risk and in some cultures cause much disrespect — in these cases, someone who is overweight may have a big problem with their own body condition, so if you mention it you’re poking a sore spot.
@snar
Solid comprehensive answer :-)
Escape with food? One of my escapes is video games, but I don’t get how food does that? Your mental and emotional states are distracted for how long?
Oh, and if you ever visit Australia, I’ll walk up a hill with you, or lend you a kayak or something :-)
How big does the person have top be to be considered fat?
A couple of pounds over their ideal weight?
Double figures of pounds?
A teenager with puppy fat?
A woman that hasn’t lost her baby weight yet?
Someone in a wheelchair that can’t exercise the same as other people can?
Do they even have to be fat to be called it?
How about a woman that has lots of mussle, making them larger than others?
I am also tall & find it odd that it’s perfectly acceptable for someone that has only just met me to look me up & down & say ‘god, you’re tall aren’t you’ why can’t i say back ‘god, you’re ugly aren’t you’
@lifelover
Haha, its true. I have had to work out good hugs. Beibg talk, people get my chest or stomach, so its ok, but I’m rubbish at being a shoulder pillow.

I love to kayak man, I ocean kayak here every summer. I also did racing for a while . And I’m not fat anymore, so no need to worry about exercising me. I figured out the foolproof method: eat less than you burn. Easy peasy. I considered writing a diet book called: put down the fork.

And you didn’t get the weight back?
I was the opposite. I was thin as a kid. Then when I was able to afford all the good food in the world, I eat to my heart’s content. Consequently, I became fat. But was able to do serious exercise and diet. However, after five years, I am slowly gaining it back, and this time more than I had gained before. I know I can do diet and exercise again, but still it depresses me.
So how did you able to maintain your weight?
Calorie counting. Extreme calorie counting.
1- Similpy it could due to lifestyle so it could have nothing to do with body rather than life stile and habit
And not the body
2 - it could has no more due with habite and life stile but rather hormones and body
Or because taking druge or treatment
3- it could be both
4 - Will depend on the person what really need fixing Anxiety

I have never made a post like these.
What’s it like being FAT?
Fu..ing frustrating!
If you eat out everyone looks at you as if you’re always eating.
People stare at you, and then they start whispering. (As if I did not know what they were saying).
Why don’t you go on a DIET? I am sick of hearing that; I have been on a diet all my life.
Fat people are people to.
A better post would have been: why
do skinny girls have a medical problem, but big people are just greedy…
@bucking…
Good point, was more asking about unhealthy excess weight, not about curvy or solidly built women. My sister had some body issues till she joined a circus and realized she wasn’t fat, just many of her high school friends were weak.
So no, not about the daft skinny model fad our society is in, but about unhealthy lifestyles.
…….
Hahahaha, harsh. At least talk is quantitatively objective, so I sometimes say “yeah, and you’ve got really large breasts”. Usually people realize the blurting and have a laugh.
So, you ever said what you wanted to?
@snar
!!!!!!
I had one as a kid, well one I took into the ocean. And did it in Fiji, now I have bought a ute so I can do it this coming summer.
Ok, so no charity case. Where do you go? Where’s my invite?

Yea i have, someone said about me being tall, so i replied with something like, ‘i’m glad i’m so tall & you’re so short, it means i’m further away from the stench of your breath than everyone else’!

are you fat? Why doesn’t dieting work?
Of course fat people are people, he name kinda gives it away :-)

greedy with food. but u know most fat ppl are lonely. they overeat to cure an aching heart, to feel in control. to have that satisfaction that other areas of their life lacked..
really, I have another solution to that, never thought of eating more

Seems extreme?
I am once both fat and thin, so I really know how it is.
That extreme, cause fat is never good. Obesity even kills.
so why be fat then? I get that it’s a blunt question, but one I want to ask

I think i should make another post called “whats the deal with hot women”.
why you so harsh on people for saying you’re all? I kinda like being a B-grade celebrity. Annoying sometimes, but rarely hack someone for blurting. I do sometimes wish that I did though…

I was at the west coast last week, were in Perth are you? :-P
I am not used to being overweight. I was a slim child and medium/healthy adult. Each time I was pregnant I got enormous, nearly 200 lbs, and I’m 5′4″. It is uncomfortable because it takes so much more than usual effort to do usual things. Even going up a single flight of stairs might leave me winded when I am fat. Maybe just because I’m not used to it. With my first two babies I lost the weight within a year without any special effort. This time, maybe because I am so much older now, I still am about 20 lbs above where I should be and my daughter is nearly 11 months old. I’ve never needed to think about diet and exercise before. I normally choose healthy foods and am moderately active. But now I am thinking that I need to start thinking about these things so I can be healthy enough to raise my children right. Overweight parents have a hard time playing with their children like they should, and often cause sedentary children who become unhealthy adults. I think I’m going to have to learn how to exercise.
@mariam
woah, good info, thanks
Enjoy the effortless while it lasts.
Why does being pregnant make you put on weight? Obviously the baby and placenta etc, but is it a biological thing to prepare, or jsut that you slow down?

It makes me really hungry all the time, and then the extra weight (baby weight and fat) makes me less active. I think there are biological reasons for pregnant women to gain extra fat too, but not everyone does.

It actually doesn’t really bother me that people say i’m tall, what bothers me is that it’s socially acceptable to comment on someones height, butnot acceptable to comment on someones size, shape or looks.
I know i’m tall, do people think i haven’t noticed & i need them to point it out??
What i do find funny is, my sis works with a lot of short people & they all call her a giant, but me & my bro call her shorty.
I developed bad food habits as a child. I got back to a healthy weight at 30, then put on more. Now its hard to get the weight off. But you know what’s odd? Thin people sometimes admire fat people because we have given ourselves the freedom to eat what we want. :-) Will being overweight make me ill? Maybe, but it hasn’t yet.

I do like it when I can step past taboos and meet a person, not a people. Like when someone girl said “why are you tall” I said, “genetics and healthy lifestyle, and your left hand is a lot hairier than your right, whys that” she said it was due to her recently breaking her wrist and the extra blood and heal chemicals made her hand hairy. Interesting!!!
I hate taboos

I am more jealous of a bit of extra weight, as I get cold more easily, don’t float as well, had food poisoning for 5 days and had to get a drip, not as cuddly…
I eat whatever I want, jsut don’t always remember too
i got fat coz i comfort ate, i was depressed, had no friends, no job, no life. i changed that, now im not so fat, im classed as average weight but i want to lose another stone.
also being on the contraceptive pill makes me gain weight. i just have to look at a bag of m&m’s and i’ll put on 5lbs!
