So I have another question for you army heads out here…

If someone was to qualify for ranger school and attend ranger school and graduate ranger school, that wouldn’t necessarily make them a ”ranger” would it. In simple terms, passing the course doesn’t make you a ranger right.?? I guess I’m asking: could you be ranger qualified but not have ranger duties and just be a soldier, like go through the course to earn promotion points and the prestige of completing the course.?

Ps. Do other schools such as air assault and airborne work the same way.?? Just curious.

If you successfully complete Ranger School, i.e., get the “Ranger tab,” than you are a Ranger. You may or may not be assigned to Ranger units, but you will be a Ranger.

You normally go through Airborne before Ranger School. Most Rangers are going to get their Air Assault wings, also–and Pathfinder if they can get a school slot.

You can qualify for Delta Force without first becoming Special Forces.

THEN you are a Ranger!

If you’re going to be in the Army, you should at least get your jump wings or Air Assault badge!

And just so you know, not everyone makes it through Ranger School!

So what determines whether or not your assigned to a ranger unit.? I mean my MOS is 15s Oh-58d helicopter repairer so if I am not assigned to a ranger unit what would be my involvement with being a ranger.? Same for air assault and sapper. what do rangers that are not assigned to ranger units do.?
