Yes. But you have to actively keep things going well, I imagine. I often meet with a group of friends after most of us have traveled half an hour to meet up. If you met this person half way on everything that you went out to do, it’d be the same thing ^^ Not impossible. It’s great to meet with several people though, in my opinion. Having one friend as better than all the others isn’t ‘necessary’ =)

Oh yeah! My best friend lives two and a half hours away. We talk almost everyday by phone or texting, and see each other when we can. Best friends are best friends and can never be replaced! If you two are that close then distance doesn’t matter! :)

My best friend lives about 7 hours away :P To keep in touch, we write letters. It’s a bit time consuming compared to phone calls or chatting online, but it feels more special that way, that we took the time to sit down, think about what we really wanted to say to each other, and physically wrote it all out. We only get to see each other maybe 3 or 4 times a year, but the letters have kept us close.

Not saying you have to write letters, I’m sure any form of communication will do. As long as you put in the extra bit of effort to stay in touch, you can certainly be best friends an hour away, or even much further away from each other :)

Yep, I have best friends here in the UK about 4 hrs away - I see them every few months.

I also have a best friend in NZ. We FB, email & Skype.

Distance is no barrier to friendship - it just means the friendship has to evolve and you need to make sure you keep in touch.

My best friend live 2 hours away and We have been best friends since 2nd grade. We are now 35/36 years old and we see each other a few times a year and every time we just pick up right where we left off. So yes it can work. You can also have more than one best friend.

Miles
