talk help: I have no idea what to do. - Help.com

I have no idea what to do.

I’ve just got my A level results and a confirmed place at uni but I don’t think I want to go, it wouldn’t be right for me and I’ve always said that. The thing is though so far it’s been difficult looking for work and I have nothing secure at the moment. Also things at home are really awful and uni might be a form of escape, even if it’s only for a while. I’m so confused and I don’t have anyone to talk to about this.

You really should go, if you can. You might not think it’s right for you, but once you’re there, I’m sure you’ll fit right in.

I don’t want to be in education any more and I’m not good with exams at all. I would definitely prefer going into work and earning rather than getting into debt and be in the same jobless position after 3 years. I haven’t got good social skill so I’m terrified about meeting new people and living with people I don’t know but then I’m worried if I stay I’ll be completely alone.

I’m 18 and turn 19 in November. I don’t really have many hobbies, but I sometimes play on my PS3. I like meeting up with people and going out, but at the moment I don’t do much of that as I’ve fallen out with a lot of people. I spend a lot of time alone and I’ve been a bit of an emotional wreck for a while…I hate having to make decisions, I hate being stuck in an awkward situation and I hate the idea of trying to meet new people because I can guarantee they probably won’t like me for whatever reason

Okay Dear Anon If you don’t have any interest in Studies it’s all right but Please Start Finding hard work you love doing. As long as you remain true to yourself, and follow your own interests and values, you can find success through passion. Perhaps more importantly, you won’t wake up several years later working in a career field you despise, wondering “How the heck am I going to do this for the next 30 years?” So if you catch yourself working hard and loving every minute of it, don’t stop. You’re on to something big. Because hard work ain’t hard when you concentrate on your passions.

You will be success full :-)
Good Luck !

Yes you are very confused so if you’d accept older peoples’ advices from here, and older means 10 years and up who were in your shoes once, here is one:
You may not want to study right now even though you have good grades and got accepted to a university but three of four years from now when the other kids graduate, you will still be in the same situations and when it comes to apply to any kinds of jobs they will look at your resume and guess who are they going to hire? Those with education. Not because they want smart people (thought that isn’t so bad to have) but because they saw dedication and EFFORT being made by those over you. The other thing about it is that they will get higher salaries and can advance in their jobs/career while you will stagnate in the same position for years. If that’s what you need and want, don’t study.

You should go dear. There must be a reason why you’ve gotten your place at uni. Call it karma, life, destiny, whatever. Don’t stop the whole thing in your life just because you don’t know what to do. Just take your life as it is given to you every day. Too much hesitation now that you’re so young will lead you to be hesitant about everything in the future. Please go.
