How do you remember addresses?

I want to improve my memory in remembering the addresses( i guess the right english word would be rout). need some practical advices. I tend to 4get routs and sometimes it’s embarrassing and makes me feel negative about myself.

Just curious. Why is it important that you MEMORIZE addresses? If I drive to it every week I remember the route of how to get there. If I write them a letter once or twice a year I look it up in my address book. I do not physically remember the street address.

Am I in the minority here?

Nope.

I don’t think there’s anything embarrassing about memorizing something that’s not terribly important ^^
How do you normally remember them?

well I don’t mean memorizing the addresses to write letters. I tend to 4get the rout when I go to some place for example a friends house I do not frequently visit or some shopping center I have visited twice.

If you don’t normally go somewhere, then of course you’d forget it ^^ Just get directions for traveling when you haven’t gone somewhere often enough to know the route.

That just means he’s very good at it, not that you’re bad at it ^^ Most people take a few tries before they can remember it perfectly.

I’m sure there is something you do better than your brother. No need to compare apples to oranges…

If I told you the mall you were trying to find has the adress of 1800 Mall Drive does that help you locate it? Probably not. You need to know the connecting streets to GET to Mall Drive. After that it’s just a matter of finding a big building with an even bigger parking lot surrounding it. Bingo! you just found the mall. You didn’t find 1800 Mall Drive.

Address book. I only know three addresses. The house I grew up in, my current one, and the last one, where I lived for 15 years…

I’ve got one of those Garmin car GPS things. Don’t have to remember anything and it can save routes too!
